• • • WHO WE ARE • • •

We are a grassroots organization led by undocumented immigrant youth.

The NYSYLC (New York State Youth Leadership Council) is the first organization in NY led by undocumented immigrant youth.

We work to empower immigrant youth through leadership development, grassroots organizing, educational advancement, and self-expression. Our goal is to give undocumented youth the tools and space to organize and create change in our communities.

How do we build power?

Our programs for undocumented youth include:

  • Grassroots organizing around immigration rights and DACA policy

  • Supporting a network of undocumented student-led clubs in high schools and colleges

  • Educational summer programs covering systems of oppression, immigration history, and organizing our community to create change

  • Support with college applications, financial aid, and other ambitions after high school, through our Undocu Senior Academy

  • Distributing funds for DACA renewal fees

  • Creating scholarship funds for college

and more.

Our COVID-19 response

Our communities were heavily impacted by this virus, yet were left out of relief programs and stimulus checks.

We collected and distributed over $250,000 of COVID-19 emergency funds to undocumented folks whose livelihoods were affected by COVID-19. To support our communities, we created the List of Resources for Undocumented People in NYC. Meanwhile, our workshops and organizing efforts have gone virtual.
