The NYSYLC is an undocumented youth led organization. We work to provide immigrant youth the tools to organize and accomplish their goals. This includes increasing access to higher education and financial aid, support coping with mental health, addressing the intersectionalities of our work as it relates to racial justice, economic justice, women’s rights, and the rights of queer and trans people.The NYSYLC is looking for amazing Intern to start this August and Fall. We encourage undocumented folks to apply. We believe and support undocumented leadership and love to host interns that embody our mission and represent our membership.

All interns will have a mandatory orientation and are expected to attend one YLC training. We value all of our interns and go the extra mile to make sure you receive a learning experience that fits your career goals.

Graphic Design Intern – You will be in charge of designing projects for Dream Teams and Campaigns that YLC Membership will be leading. Flexible schedule to attend bi-weekly meetings and send regular updates on projects. Will have to communicate with Core and Staff the support they need in order to complete projects.You'll help us create email blasts, banner ads, social media assets, etc to send to our database and release on our social platforms, as well as graphics for our video and television broadcast. You will help us enhance marketing materials for both artists and brand partnerships. On show days, you will get to be on-site, helping us with brand activation and show production.

Social Media Intern- Our ideal candidate is someone who walks into a room of people and can’t leave without making a few friends. Someone who is obsessed with social media and is creative and thoughtful when interacting with online communities and building relationships. You will be in charge of finding content relevant to our work and sharing it on our social media platforms. You will also be leading the outreach online (promoting events, creating engaging content)

Community Affairs Intern –We are seeking a community focused intern to  assist with a variety of tasks and projects supporting the advocacy in Educational Campuses, with an emphasis on promoting the NYSYLC in the community, college engagement.You will be supporting us in leadership development trainings.

Dream Team Ambassadors - Student Ambassadors are current students who are active in a Dream Team.They serve as the link between the schools and the outside community. They will also be working on leading the Dream Team Retreat with other active Dream Team Members. Will be also in charge of at least one fundraising efforts to raise money for a scholarships for High school and College Dream Team members.

What We Require:

1.Strong communication skills.

2.Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office.

3.Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.

4.Creative and Flexible.

5.Familiarity with social networking sites desired, but we will also train.

6.Interested in the issues equal access to learning resources and generally socially consciousIndividual

7.Ability to build positive relationships with other students

8.Must have a have a passion for social justice and be able to demonstrate how you’ve participated in social justice activities & want to learn solid skills in the field of organizing.

What You Will Learn:

1.How to create a long term social media plan and marketing calendar.

2.Relationship building with our online community by maintaining Facebook,Twitter, LinkedIn, and other media accounts.

3.How to track social media analytics using software, and report results and new ideas to our team.

4.Create compelling content that will be shared by influencers.

5.Creative feedback and viral loops between our Facebook Page, twitter, and blog accounts .

6.Plenty of additional opportunities in related projects.
