Senate Vote Delayed – Keep Calling!

Just a few minutes ago, the Senate passed a motion to table, or postpone, a vote on the Dream Act. This was done in order to allow the Senate to vote on the version of the Dream Act passed by the House last night so that the bill can proceed directly to President Obama’s desk after it is passed in the Senate. Although this delays the vote, we are confident that we will get a vote in the Senate within the next week and that we will be able to win enough votes to have a successful outcome. However, this will not happen without your continued and increased CALLS AND ACTIONS!

We want to thank Senators Reid and Durbin for working with us to help assure a successful Senate vote in the coming week. We want to thank House leadership from both sides of the aisle who stepped up yesterday to make the historic Dream Act victory happen. We urge continued bipartisan cooperation and leadership to win the Senate vote and make the Dream Act a reality.

We won an unprecedented victory in the House last night because of the work done by youth this year, who proudly declared themselves undocumented and unafraid. We will only be to win in the Senate if you make even more calls, work even harder and reach even further. But we are confident that together, we can win the Dream Act in 2010.

Keep calling!
