Scholarships
With the potential introduction of the Dream Act legislation in 2010, we will continue our commitment to empower youth who are committed to working within the immigrant rights movement. Many of the youth, especially immigrant youth today, however, face financial burdens when attending college. In order to alleviate these burdens, The New York State Youth Leadership Council will be launching the New York State Youth Leadership Awards Program to alleviate the financial burden of these potential leaders so that they can continue to pursue their dreams.
It is the NYSYLC’s mission to provide opportunities for immigrant youth. Our Awards Program will provide monetary support to youth who commit to continue being active in the immigrant rights movement in the coming years. Priority will be given towards students with limited or no means to obtain financial aid for higher education.
The NYSYLC will be awarding 10 scholarships at $500 apiece and 2 scholarship/fellowship opportunities of $1,500 each
