NYSYLC Don't Just Dream, Act!

Youth Organizing

The Dream Act 2009 campaign represents an unprecedented opportunity to build on the energy in the campuses and coalesce on a civil rights issue-that has the potential to bridge racial divides and tap into a base that is unorganized but energetic. For the immigrant rights movement, winning the Dream Act, often considered by many as a piece meal provision of a larger Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill, would inject a burst of energy and fresh leadership into a movement that direly needs to support its youth base. Training and building the leadership development of immigrant youth, would bring a fresh wave of student organizing to the campuses.
