In late 2010, I noticed a need for a creative outlet for the NYSYLC’s members, NY dreamers/ undocumented youth. With the help of poet and facilitator, Angelique Imani ”Sublime” Rodriguez, the concept of the “Dreaming in Ink” Creative Writing Workshops was created.
Since 2011 Dreaming In Ink served as a space where undocumented youth could reclaim their stories and use this space for self expression and healing. Dreaming in Ink workshops is now part of the new NYSYLC’s Arts & Expression Program . This season the Arts & Expression Program will bring you Film/Documentary nights, photo shoots,gallery exhibitions, open mics and more Dreaming in Ink workshops.
We begin this Fall with a brand new series of “Dreaming in Ink” Creative Writing workshops:
Bring your creative self; pen, paper and a friend. Every workshop we will have a special guest poet.
*SATURDAY NOVEMBER 3RD from 11-1pm
*SATURDAY December 1st from 11-1pm
*SATURDAY January 5th from 11-1pm
*SATURDAY February 2nd from 11-1pm
*SATURDAY March 2nd from 11-1pm (This March workshop is in preparation for the NY National Coming Out Rally )
*SATURDAY April 6th from 11-1pm
~All workshops are free and open to the public.
Workshops take place at the NYSYLC’s office.
