Jordana was brought to the United States, from Argentina, when she was only 12 years old. She attended Carteret High School and began working at a local supermarket, during her junior year of high school, in order to provide for her family. Jordana was unable to graduate from high school because her family relied on her financially. However, she valued her education and obtained her G.E.D from Amboy Adult Center while working as a waitress.
After completing her G.E.D, Jordana began to save up enough money to attend community college. She was planning to enroll during the Fall 2011 semester, but her desire to pursue higher education was stopped abruptly on July 22, 2011 when ICE came to her home in search for her brother and tried to force themselves in. Instead, they found Jordana and, after finding out her immigration status, decided to detain her.
On August 11, 2011, Jordana was told to gather her belongings and was taken to Newark Liberty International Airport. Distressed with the thought of leaving the only country she knows, Jordana refused to board the plane and missed her flight. To punish her, ICE officers sent her to Hudson County Jail, where conditions are harsher than in the detention center. In January, she was transferred to Delaney Hall Detention Center where she is currently being held.
Jordana is eligible for the DREAM Act. According to the memo issued by John Morton, she is not a priority for deportation and should be granted favorable exercise of prosecutorial discretion. While detained, Jordana has helped other undocumented women who are more vulnerable because they don’t speak English. Jordana wants to be released from detention so she can begin her college education with the goal of becoming a lawyer or a psychologist.
URGENT: Jordana is currently detained in Delaney Hall Detention Center in NJ and could be deported any day.
Jordana was detained when ICE went to her house and tried to force themselves in saying they were looking for her brother. Instead, they found her and arrested her. Jordana should be released immediately. Please help us stop Jordana’s deportation by signing the petition and making a phone call.

Jordana is the 4th DREAMer that we know of who has been incarcerated at Delaney Hall since Essex County signed a new contract with ICE last fall. The Newark ICE field oFfice is not abiding by its own prosecutorial discretion policy unless they are forced to by tremendous public scrutiny. All the other DREAMers have been released under this policy. Keep signing and keep calling so we can force ICE to do the same for Jordana.
